Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026

This policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit sitesmadelocal.co.uk or get in touch. It's written to describe what this website actually does, not a generic template, so if a section doesn't apply here, it's left out rather than padded. See the Terms & Conditions for the terms that apply to website projects, and the Cookie Policy for what is and isn't stored in your browser.

Who we are

This site is run by Robert Whitten, trading as Sites Made Local, a sole trader. Robert Whitten is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller. For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights below, email robertwhitten@curly-it.co.uk.

This site doesn't have a contact form

Every "get a quote" or "get in touch" link on this site is a mailto: link. Clicking one opens your own email app, addressed to us, it doesn't submit anything through this website or its hosting. Whatever you choose to send us goes directly from your email provider to ours. We only ever see what you decide to put in that email.

If you email us

We use the email address and any information you send us only to reply to your enquiry and, if it goes ahead, to deliver the work you've asked for. We don't add your details to a marketing list, sell them, or share them with anyone else, without asking you first. We keep enquiry emails for as long as is reasonably useful, for an active enquiry, and for a sensible period afterwards for our own records, not indefinitely.

Technical data from visiting the site

Like effectively any website, ours is served by a hosting provider that may automatically log standard technical information, things like IP address, browser type, device type, and which pages were requested, for security, abuse-prevention and troubleshooting purposes. This happens at the hosting level rather than something we've built, and isn't used to identify individual visitors for marketing.

Fonts

This site's fonts are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from Google Fonts or any other third party. That means visiting this site doesn't share your IP address with a separate font provider, one less thing sent to one less company.

Cookies and analytics

We don't currently run website analytics or advertising trackers, so there's nothing of that kind collecting data about your visit. If that changes, we'll update this policy and the Cookie Policy, and ask for your consent first wherever the law requires it. See the Cookie Policy for exactly what is and isn't stored in your browser today.

Other websites we link to

Pages on this site link out to real client websites and other third-party pages (for example, in our case studies). Once you click through, you're on their site, subject to their own privacy practices, not ours.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
  • Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
  • Ask us to delete data we no longer have a good reason to keep
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data
  • Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format

Email robertwhitten@curly-it.co.uk for any of these. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

This website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If what this site actually does changes, for example, a hosting provider or analytics platform gets chosen, this page will be updated to match, with the date at the top revised.

This site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies today. You can choose what's allowed if that ever changes. Cookie Policy

Remembers this choice so we don't ask again. Always on, there's nothing to turn off.
